I wish I could post pics of our fun adventures tonight, but we didn’t use our camera. So I’ll post what I can next week.
One thing we all noticed was that the number of houses in the neighborhood handing out candy was a lot lower than usual, so perhaps that was an effect of the bad economy. That’s okay, though — the last thing any of us needs is a bunch of individually-wrapped high fructose corn syrup bars. If that’s sounding preachy, just know that I went on a total bender with my daughter’s chocolate treasures as soon as we got home (she can’t have it anyway because of her allergy), which culminated in me bellowing about how corn is the downfall of America as we know it. (Which IS the truth, but I was pretty hyped up on candy, so I was making more of an ass out of myself than usual.)
The chocolate’s starting to wear off, so here are some of my favorite links from the past week…
Depression Cake at The Grocery Cart Challenge — because I just can’t get enough chocolate, and when it’s dairy- and soy-free, even better! Oh yeah, this is super frugal, too.
Steel-Cut Oats at Ten Things Farm — a great tutorial on making your own steel-cut oats from oat groats!
Homemade Rustic Pasta Noodles at The Nourishing Gourmet — makes me want to order that pasta-making attachment for my Bosch!
I’m sure there were more, but I was all about recipes this last week. Now it’s time to start the weekend!
